Non-Profit Teamed with Nashville Social Services This group of volunteers, organizers, and workers from Nashville Metro Services, teams up with Kroger to be able to donate Thanksgiving dinners to families who are experiencing hard times whether it's sickness, death, or lack of income. This was the second year this organization went to donate food, along with a lot of smiles. The recipients varied in age ranging from mid twenties to some approaching the century mark. I traveled for a day capturing smiles, and in some cases the hardships that a lot of families in poor unfortunate neighborhoods have to endure. In some units I witnessed ten to twenty people living in one two bedroom apartment, In other cases I captured a mailbox that had been pierced by a bullet only inches from the front door and windows of another apartment. I also captured vehicles with windows shot out only feet from an apartment where two preschool children lived. This day opened my eyes to see what many families have to endure in surrounding areas that many people never hear about, much less never think about. |
